What are Spiritual Retreats?
One-day or half day retreats
A retreat day or half-day creates an extended space for individuals and groups to slow down, breathe, touch base with the meaning of life and what matters, to pay attention to themselves and to be open to the ways in which God is gently approaching them in love.
The structure of retreats that I offer is as follows:
- A series of spiritual exercises/practices that assist people to enter a contemplative state and way of being, slowing the mind, resting the body, nurturing the spirit.
- Invitations to journal with words and/or simple artwork
- Opportunities for related small group discussions
- Some teaching input around spiritual principles and practices
- Opening and closing meditations and small rituals
What else do I need to know?
A retreat will usually form around a certain theme and will utilise, poetry, scripture, nature, music, art materials and sometimes clay work. I run half or full day retreats by invitation and consultation with any social or organisational group. I bring a Christian perspective to my retreat work but am keenly sensitive to the variety of faith and/or non-faith perspectives that may be present within any gathering. Thus, I am careful to create various options for how different people may choose to engage, some more explicitly Christian, others without the theological language.
What does it cost to receive spiritual retreats?
- I charge $175 per hour for retreat facilitation, for groups up to 25 participants. These retreats can range from 3 to 7 hours, depending on the needs and preferences of the hosting group.
- I charge $140 for a meeting to consult on the proposed retreat and the design
- Most retreats will attract a resources charge of $100 to $250, depending on numbers and the nature of the activities
- The charges above do not include the hire of the retreat venue. An inviting group or organization may choose to arrange their own venue. I am able to arrange a venue for the retreat but this will incur an extra charge.
Retreat numbers: I run retreats for groups up to 25 participants. Larger group numbers can be negotiated.
